Research Proposal Writing
A research proposal has one job: to convince a committee that your study is worth doing, that you can do it, and that it will produce something useful. We help you make that case.
About this service
Proposals are read by committees who've seen hundreds of them. What they're scanning for is different from what most students assume. They're not looking for a polished academic essay — they're looking for evidence that you've identified a real gap, chosen an appropriate method, and thought carefully about feasibility.
We write proposals that do exactly that. Every element — the problem statement, literature context, methodology, timeline, and expected contribution — is written to answer the questions a reviewer will actually ask.
We work with students applying for Master's and PhD entry, doctoral candidates preparing formal proposals for approval, and researchers applying for funding from bodies like the ESRC, AHRC, NIH, or Wellcome Trust.

Common questions
Do you write for specific funding bodies?+
Yes. Tell us which body you're applying to — ESRC, AHRC, Wellcome, NIH, Gates Foundation, or any other — and we'll follow their exact format, word limits, and evaluation criteria. We can also review your draft against their rubric if you have one.
Can you help if I don't know my exact research topic yet?+
To a degree. We can help you narrow a broad area into a specific, feasible research question. But you need to come with at least a general direction — we're not going to invent your research for you.
How long should a research proposal be?+
That varies enormously. A Master's proposal might be 2,000–3,000 words. A PhD proposal is typically 3,000–5,000. Grant applications can be 1,500 words or 15,000. Tell us your target and we'll write to it.
Do you include a methodology section?+
Always. The methodology is often the weakest part of rejected proposals — students describe their approach without justifying it. We write methodologies that explain what you'll do, why that approach fits your question, and what alternatives you considered.
Can you match my institution's template?+
Yes. Upload their template or guidelines document and we'll follow it precisely, including any specific headings, subheadings, or formatting requirements.
